Emergency Escape Windows Quiz

Egress Window - Jon Gudnason

Sacramento Inspector, Jon Gudnason, shared a great photo that left me wondering how much I really knew about emergency escape window requirements. Sure I received lots of training when I was a new inspector, but what has changed over the years? Firstly, the International Residential Code (IRC) does not use the term “egress windows.” Instead, the terms “emergency escape and rescue openings” along with “emergency escape windows” are the correct terms.  After researching the IRC information this led to my creating this 10 question online quiz...

Thanks for taking the 10 question Windows Quiz. It is based on the 2012 International Residential Code and covers emergency escape and rescue openings. This also includes windows and window wells. Please try taking it with only your current knowledge between your ears, and then you can retake it open book style. If you take it open book first, then you will never know how much you really know on the topics. Good luck!
